Adidas and Manchester United today present the fresh, new 2020/21 season home kit, inspired by the club’s iconic crest.

Inigo Turner, Design Director at Adidas, said: “For this season, we researched the values and iconography that connect athlete and fan, and looked to fuse these with modernity and innovation, to create something that connects the people and stands for unity.

“We pretty quickly landed on the crest as it is the representation of the heart and passion of the club, and it is symbolic and iconic across the world. It is significant as the first component added to each design, and one that makes up the threads of the shirt design for the 2020/21 season.”

The “Manchester United DNA” has been a focus for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team, and the home jersey for the forthcoming 2020/21 season aims to encapsulate the DNA of the club, using the threads of the club crest itself to produce a subtly patterned base fabric.

Taking influence from the intricacies, the yarn-stitched application on the shirt, a fine graphic print provides a unique pattern and detailing onto a colour-block background. The name of the club is also proudly engineered into the edition, visible through the use of different red tones.

The product team achieved this nuanced design through an innovative ‘space dye’ technique that allows separate yarns to be dyed individually, and at different lengths, to give a finish with depth, and with full details only viewable by the wearer.

Alongside the traditional-fit supporter jersey, there are also shirts specifically designed for children and women.

The kit, which also comprises white shorts, and black socks that also feature the threaded design, will be seen on the pitch for the first time tomorrow (Wednesday 5 August) as the Reds resume our UEFA Europa League campaign at home in the last-16, second-leg tie against LASK.

It is available to buy today, exclusively at, Adidas stores, and official club stores including online via United Direct.

A full release with selected retailers will be available from Tuesday 11 August.
